I am an artist, researcher, sociologist, dancer, herbalist, and educator. I cannot choose only one project or issue to focus on, so I work on all of them, often at the same time. I am a weaver of ideas, spaces, and fabrics, yearning to help people recognize how deeply connected everyone and everything is.

I currently live on the unceded homelands of the Shoshone, Paiute, Goshute, and Ute peoples in so-called Salt Lake City. I earned my doctorate in sociology from the University of Utah, and my dissertation is titled "Everyday Disruptions and Moments of Liberation Within Racial Capitalism," in which I explored ways people disrupted the rhythms of racial capitalism in their everyday lives.

My background includes sociology, art, psychology, organic farming, community organizing, food justice strategy, and facilitating spaces for healing and reclaiming pleasure and the erotic self through dance. As a queer, nonbinary person of color working at the intersections of art, food, and environmental justice, and as a gender and sexuality educator, I engage in art, research, and projects that bring these interests together in a single interdisciplinary offering.

Constantly navigating the margins, I have worked to bring race and queerness into environmental and food studies spaces that are often predominantly white. My praxis is to move like water between worlds: classrooms, cooperatives, organizations, gardens, carving paths where the ground insisted there were none. To queer, to me, is to sit constantly with questions and with rigidity, and to find room inside that rigidity for breath, for play, for creation. It is to unsettle norms and keep asking how I can expand moments of liberation and how to compost the walls between us into soil, something new can grow from.

Nourished by pomegranates, raised by pistachios, loved by saffron, tenderly held by lavender, intoxicated by rosewater, bathed by watermelon, and kissed by slimy mushrooms, I am here to live fully and add my juice to this world.
